How to Request Promotion Codes on Ream

We have some amazing resources to help you grow your Ream with the power of promotion codes.

REQUIREMENTS BEFORE REQUESTING A PROMO CODE

1. You must have a launched Ream page in order to create codes. If your page is not launched we cannot create any codes for you.

2. You must have created the tiers that you'd like your codes to be applied to. We cannot create a code for a tier that is not published.

3. You may not request more than 3 different codes during a 30-day period. There are real humans behind creating these promotions for you, and we want to ensure that every author has a chance at creating a promotion.

4. Please Note: These codes are meant for readers who are not active subscribers. Existing subscribers will have to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to use a code. This is to protect authors against code redemption abuse. Codes will not work if an existing subscriber tries to upgrade/change their tier.

Promotion codes cannot be changed once created so please submit a New form with New details if required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CREATING A PROMO CODE

1. Please provide the email you use for your Stripe account and your Ream Page URL.

(You may add a second email for us to reply and confirm your code).

2. Have a clear idea of the main details of your promotion. Customer Code/Value off/Months of Discount are required. Other details are optional.

(Your finalized codes will only be distributed to the emails listed in the form). 

**If your email below does not match your Stripe or Ream email then we will not be able to process your request.

Please fill out this form with the details of your request and a Ream Team member will create it and reach out to you within 48 hours. 

These codes can be used for Free Trials, Gifting Subscriptions, Limited-Time/ Holiday Promotions, and more! We recommend using codes for the following purposes (see our podcast here):

1. Limited-time promotions to encourage new readers to join your subscription (think 1 month free, 3 months at 50% off etc.).

2. Free Trials for new members. You can input the code into your tier description for 1 month free, encouraging readers to give your tier a test. They will automatically be billed when the Free Trial ends and can cancel at anytime during their trial.

3. Giveaways to encourage new Followers. Everyone loves a give away! For example, you can give away a 1 year free membership to one reader who follows you during a set period of time. Then you can email the winner the code we create for them to redeem.

4. Beta readers, admins, or other people you'd like to gift subscriptions too. Prizes! Yes, you can have your beta readers inside Ream! You can even let them into your membership permanently with a forever coupon. And at anytime, you can revoke their access by Banning them on your Ream.

5. Please Note: These codes are meant for New Subscribers only.

How it works for a Reader:

Codes are entered in by readers at checkout in the Add Promotion Code field. Readers are clearly shown the time-length of the promotion and the adjusted balance with the Promo Code applied.

Please Note: New Subscribers still need to go through the checkout process (which includes adding a valid credit card) in order to apply their promo code and receive their discount.

Promo Code Definitions (aka what information we need):

1. Promotion Code Name: this is what your readers will type in at check out to redeem the offer. They will be required to enter their credit card information to redeem any promotional offer. Any present or future charges will be displayed clearly to readers and they can cancel their memberships at any time.

2. Duration of Promotion Code: must be at least 1 month but can be 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or even forever!

3. Discount Amount: this can be a dollar amount ($3) or a percentage off (think 50%, 100%, etc.).

4. Tiers Promotion is Available To: you must make your promotion available for at least one tier. You can choose to limit a code to a specific tier or make it available to all your tiers. 😊

5. Promotion Code Expiration Date [OPTIONAL]: this is a set date you'd like the promotion code to expire for redemption. This requires readers to sign up before a certain date in order to claim the promotion. Great for Limited-Time sales!

6. Promotion Code Redemption Limit [OPTIONAL]: how many promotion codes would you like? You don't have to have a limit, but you can create an offer for the first 10 readers, or the first 5, etc.

Here are some of the best ways to use Promotion Codes on Ream:

1. Limited Time Promotions.

This a powerful way to grow your Paid Membership. You can use a Promo Code Expiration Date to make a discount to one of your tiers available for a limited time.

Limited-Time Promotions can be used to:

• Incentivize new members to join with a month free for a limited time or a discount of 50% for 3 months.
• Incentivize members to upgrade tiers with a limited-time discount on a higher tier.
• Perfect for Black Friday Deals, Holiday Promotions, and More! You can even create multiple promotions to keep your readers excited throughout the entire holiday season :).

2. Follower-Only Giveaways.

These are exciting! We have already had a few authors try this out and grow their Following by dozens and in some cases hundreds of readers! Ream gives you the emails of all your Followers. This makes Follower-Only giveaways easy!

Simply:

1. Create a reward for your giveaway. This will be your Promotion Code! Maybe you give a 12-month subscription away to one lucky winner :).

2. Create the terms for your giveaway. By what date will your readers need to Follow you on Ream to be eligible to win the reward?

3. Announce the giveaway to your readers! This is the fun part! Just share a link to your Ream page and watch your Followers (and Paid Members!) grow.

3. Free Trials.

This one is simple and fun! Create a code for a month free (aka 100% off) to your lowest-priced tier. You can limit the number of readers who can redeem this reward or give out an unlimited number of free trials!

Then you can share this Promotion Code for a free trial with your readers and at the end of the trial period they will be automatically charged for future months (unless they cancel, which your readers can do so at any time).

4. Gifting to beta readers, Kickstarter backers, and more!

Want to offer 3 months free on your Ream, 6 months free on your Ream, or a discount to Kickstarter backers? Request a Promotion Code and you can easily distribute it to your Kickstarter backers so they can support you and be a member of your Ream too 💜.
