Our 5 Core Values

Internally our team has always had a set of core values that shape every decision we make. As this community has grown to the size of a small city, we think it's important we all see these values and have them to ground us.
These values and this ethos is what brings us all together, and is a huge part of what makes this group special. Here they are:

Our Purpose:
To create a future where Storytellers Rule the World.

Our Mission at Ream:
To free authors from the chains of the publishing industry by helping anyone build a bookstore in just a few clicks.

Our Values:
#1: Storytellers Rule the World. We believe that authors are more powerful than publishers and platforms. Stories are what give life meaning and make us human.

#2: Readers First. We appreciate and honor the stories of those around us. Our flaws and differences make us better.

#3: Community is King. Together we are boundless. We are stronger when we are humble and care for others.

#4: First Drafts Are Better Than No Drafts. No perfect draft exists — but finished ones do. We get better with each day and show up to get the job done.

#5: Character Triumphs. We don’t just care about what gets done but how and why we do the things we do.

Overall Expectations:

Cultivate Trust. We stick to our word and to our values and fight for the mission we believe in. We empathize with our community and set realistic, logical expectations. We are our authentic selves and love others for who they are.
Communicate Early and Often. Life changes, circumstances change, and sometimes we just have a question and need help. When expectations change communicate them so we can all empower each other to be our best.
Treat Everyone Like a Hero. We respect each other, lead with positivity and hope, and always seek to leave someone’s day better than we entered it.
