How to Set Up a Pre-order on Ream

Ream is a publishing platform that allows authors to publish stories, build a readership, and earn income directly from readers. Authors can publish serial fiction, e-books, audiobooks, and comics while using discovery, community, subscriptions, and Single Sales to grow their audience and business. Authors can create pre-orders for their Single Sales books/ audiobooks using the platform's built-in tools and settings.

New! Gauge reader interest before your book is published and released

Authors can now accept pre-orders before a completed book is released.

Important Note:

• You may schedule a pre-order before your work is completed or published, however, your e-book or audiobook Must be completed before the release date or the pre-orders will be canceled.
• You can also choose to publish the content Ahead of your pre-order date by clicking Publish Now. This will cancel the pre-order status.

To Schedule a Pre-Order:

Navigate to the Stories tab of your Creator Dashboard, select which Story you want as a Single Sale and then click the Sales link at the top of that page:

• Choose your Purchase Price (Step 1)
• Prepare your story (Step 2: check that all chapters are available, or customize this edition for sale)
• Look down the page to Step 3, which is where you will schedule your pre-order:

• Select the Schedule option
• Select the Date of Release (you can choose any date up to one year in the future, but most readers won't want to wait nearly that long)
• Select the Time if applicable (if no time is selected a default time of 12:00 midnight is selected)
• Click Schedule Release to begin your pre-order! Share your story link far and wide on your author page and as a direct link before your release date.

• Important Note: Once scheduled you may delay the release only once by up to thirty (30) days per scheduled publish. If you delay publishing more than once or cancel more than one scheduled publish, you will lose access to scheduling future publish dates for one (1) year.

Readers who pre-order a book will automatically receive access to your completed and published e-book or audiobook when the release goes live. No additional action is required after checkout.

For authors, pre-orders provide a way to build excitement around upcoming releases, measure reader interest before launch, and generate sales momentum leading up to release day.

We'll automatically notify your members and followers when pre-orders open to reserve their copy in advance, and again on release day to remind them your book is available for purchase This helps ensure they never miss a launch from their favorite author!
