Writing Chapter by Chapter on Ream (Serial Style)
Hey Authors! 📖 🎧 🦸
There are many ways to create and upload your content on Ream. From uploading finished manuscripts via .Epub or copying and pasting finished chapters, to uploading complete or partially completed audiobook chapters, to adding comic panels or completed comics, to writing e-books chapter by chapter (serial style) within Ream, it's all available to you!
Writing serial fiction is just the same as writing an e-book. It's just parceled out to readers by chapter or chapters instead of providing the completed book to them all at once.
If you've already written the story, you can upload the completed book and then create a release schedule to give readers a chance to read one or many chapters weekly, biweekly or monthly. Read more about publishing here.
If you haven't completed your story yet and want to write in real time, giving readers early access to your story, you can use the Content page in the Stories tab of your Author Dashboard to write and add new chapters:
You can either write and save your chapters within the content area, or upload chapters by copying and pasting into that field.
If you navigate away from your story, a pop up will appear as a reminder to save your changes:
PLEASE NOTE: This content field does Not auto save, so you have to make sure and click save after any changes are made before navigating away from this page.
We also recommend that you save your chapters in a safe file off of the internet... just in case!
To Edit or Add more chapters within this tool, simply click on the chapter that's been saved, or the Add Chapter button.
To return to your story to add more content, first find your story in the Stories tab of your Author Dashboard, then click the Edit button to take you to your chapters:
Remember: be sure to save your changes!
If you want to discard any changes you've made since the last save, simply click on the 6 dots on the chapter you want to revert. This pop up menu will appear:
Or, if you want to delete the entire chapter (and the chapter is already unpublished), just click on the Red Garbage Can.
