Graphic and Image Sizes on Ream
Getting your image dimensions right is important. We know how annoying it can be trying to guess what the right size is only to have to go back and edit the same image five times.
At Ream, we are all about saving our authors time and helping them make more money doing what they love.
Here's the low down on images and graphics on Ream:
Graphic/Image Type | Ratio (horizontal : vertical) | Recommended Dimensions (horizontal by vertical) |
Banner | 4:1 | 1600px by 400px |
Book Cover Image | 1.6:1 (these are standard dimensions for other sites) | 1000px by 625px |
Tier Images | 2:1 | 600px by 300px |
Profile Image | 1:1 | 500px by 500px |
Audiobook Cover Image | 1:1 | 1000px by 1000px |
We recommend using .jpg, .jpeg, and .png file formats for images on Ream.
Note: For banners, we recommend placing all text, logos, and other essentials in the middle 845 px by 400 px of the image so that this shows up on mobile. Click here for a Canva template you can use to ensure your banner is on point :).
For Banners created by a 3rd party that you cannot alter: we have some tips to help you fit your banner into the space on your page without part of the image being cut off.
Like a photograph that needs to fit inside a frame, some size adjustment is often needed. We can use the frame analogy to adjust the sizing of your image without distortion. Note: Photo manipulation software will be needed for this.
Image samples of an actual author page shows what can be done behind the scenes, while not showing to the public.

The arrows show that the banner created for the author have the photos to the very edge of the area, cutting off parts of the images, resulting in an unprofessional look when viewing the author page.
Image #2:
Using photo software, a 1 inch white frame was placed around the banner image (you may need to adjust the frame size based on your own images).
Image #3:
This shows the banner image against a white background (frame color can be changed so that it blends seamlessly with the background, in this case white).
Image #4:
The new banner image with the frame is inserted into the author page, with all images complete and no frame visible

For Ultra-Wide Monitors and Large Desktops:
Many authors using large desktops and ultra-wide monitors find that their banner images are distorted and other images may be blurry.
This is due to the screen size of the device you are using. The good news is that your tier images and banners, if you follow our guidelines above, will look beautiful across all other devices.
Nearly all of Ream's readers experience stories on mobile phones, tablets, and laptops.
And that's all on images. 😊
